(Press Release) The Board of Directors of Arbeedee Limited would like to express its appreciation to DA Vibes for the withdrawal of an article wrongly purported to have been written by Dr. Montgomery Douglas. This article was an attempt by a disgruntled shareholder to undermine the operations of the company and to tarnish the image of the Douglas family.
The Douglas family has served the Portsmouth community for over three generations and continues to have the public’s best interests at heart. We therefore wish to set the record straight.
Douglas Snackette started operations under the leadership of Robert Bernard Douglas(RBD)and Bernadette Douglas in 1967. Throughout the last fifty (50) years, we have placed strict environmental guidelines and food safety standards at the forefront of our operations. We will continue to work with all relevant government departments and other agencies to ensure that the public’s health is never compromised.
Further, Arbeedee Limited wishes to inform the public that production of Douglas ice cream at the Snackette on Bay Street in Portsmouth, ceased on September 18th 2017, the day of Hurricane Maria. The company restarted ice cream production at Clara House, Picard in early December 2017 and production will continue at Picard until our Bay Street facility repair and upgrade is complete.
In the meantime, Arbeedee Limited has retained the services of Irma Douglas, trained at the Institute of Culinary Education (ICE) in New York, as its Head Chef for the interim Snackette operation. We wish to reassure the public that Ms Douglas is fully cognisant of internationally recognised food preparation standards and is bound by her professionalism to safeguard the public’s health as well as her own reputation.
We will rebuild the Snackette and emerge better and stronger after the devastation caused by Hurricane Maria. In the meantime, the Douglas family wishes to thank the public for its many years of faithful patronage dating back to the late 1950s
