Farmers stand to benefit from road paving exercises taking place at Connector Road, Chaguanas, by possibly seeing their access roads revitalised.
Chaguanas Mayor Faaiq Mohammed told Guardian Media the borough is expected to salvage over 1,000 yards or 100 loads of scarified material.

According to the mayor, the patching of Connector Road involves the removal of the old surface materials from major depressions in the roadway. New material will then be laid. Mayor Mohammed said he is working in conjunction with the Agricultural Society to repair agricultural access roads with the salvaged materials.

“We want farmers to get their goods out,” he said. “With food prices soaring, we want to ensure farmers can deliver goods to the public and keep their prices low as possible.”
Mayor Mohammed said drainage at Connector Road also is a major issue. He said unless the drains are fixed, water would undermine the foundation of the road and it may revert to a deplorable state
