Cop, soldier charged with beating, chopping deejay

A police constable and soldier arrested in connection with a chopping incident at the weekend were pointed out in an identification parade on Thursday.

The 26-year-old officer, who is on injury leave, and the 25-year-old soldier are expected to appear before a San Fernando Magistrate on Friday.

The victim, 39-year-old Kevin Nedd, was chopped in the head and about the body during an altercation at his workplace last Saturday night

He was treated at the San Fernando General Hospital

Police said the police officer and the soldier were liming at Train Stop Bar, near the Ste Madeleine Police Station, when there was an argument

Nedd was employed as a deejay and bouncer at the bar

Police said the off duty police officer threw a drink at Nedd who then pulled out a cutlass

The officer disarmed him and chopped Nedd several times about the body

Nedd was also beaten by the soldier, police said

Patrons intervened and Nedd collapsed in the parking lot
