Shadab to play out TKR home games

Young Pakistani bowling sensation Shadab Khan, who is one of Pakistan players in this year?s Hero Caribbean Premier League (CPL) that have been recalled by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to prepare for an international series, will play a further two games for the Trinbago Knight Riders before flying back to his homeland.

The right arm leg-spinner who grabbed four wickets in his last game against the Guyana Amazon Warriors, is the leading wicket-taker in the competition with eight and has won two player of the match awards thus far.

The Pakistan Cricket Board has abruptly revoked No-Objection Certificates given to 13 players currently in the West Indies and England, asking them to return home to fulfil national and domestic commitments.

The board had originally given as many as ten players, including seven centrally contracted cricketers, permission to play the entire Caribbean Premier League?which began on August 4 and runs until September 9. Three cricketers without central contracts?Kamran Akmal, Sohail Tanvir and Mohammad Sami?have also been asked to return after they were selected by Rawalpindi, Faisalabad and Lahore Whites for the National T20 Cup.

The same notices went out to Mohammad Amir, who was to stay with Essex until September, Sarfraz Ahmed, who was to play five games for Yorkshire in the Natwest T20 Blast, and Fakhar Zaman, who was set to join Somerset until the end of the season.

The recall of players from the CPL is expected to affect all six CPL teams with the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots, Jamaica Tallawahs, Barbados Tridents and Guyana Amazon Warriors losing two players each while the Trinbago Knight Riders and St Lucia Stars each lose one.

Manager of the TKR, Colin Borde said Shadab?s exit will be a huge blow for his team. ?Shadab?s exit will be a huge blow for us. He is the complete cricketer in terms of what he can do with the ball, bat and in the field. I also find that for a youngster he is very knowledgeable about the game and when you put all this together, he must be a huge loss.

?He is going back to Pakistan on August 15, which means he will play out his home matches before leaving,? he said.

Borde said the selection committee will meet to sort out a replacement soon.

?I am confident that the selection committee will come up with a good enough replacement. For the moment we are taking it one game at a time and not taking into effect the overall picture. We have games before us at home and we will be looking to go out there and win as many of them as we can.?

The TKR has won three of their four matches to date, defeating St Lucia Stars twice and Guyana Amazon Warriors.
